Learning outcomes
|
Students during their studies choose from the offer of foreign languages (English, French, German) one foreign language as an obligatory subject. It is usually the foreign language which the student has chosen for the acceptance test to the Faculty of Law of Palacký University. It is assumed that students have at least intermediate knowledge of general language after finishing secondary school. As a consequence, teaching at our faculty of law is aimed at legal terminology from the very beginning. The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the issues of professional legal language, with the legal terminology of basic legal branches and the legal system in a given language and to compare the terminology of a given foreign language with Czech legal terminology. The basic method is to work with a professional text in order to activate the acquired legal language and strengthen the ability to inform about basic aspects of Czech law in a foreign language.
Students who have completed this subject will gain knowledge and skills in the field of technical legal terminology and they will become familiar with Anglo-American legal system.

Student performance
In order to get the credit it is essential that the students have a regular attendance in the scope set by the seminar leader. The students must also complete the tasks assigned by the teacher.
