Course content
Topics of lectures and seminars: 1. Introduction to early modern diplomatics, terminology, editions of early modern material. 2. General overview of development of royal office and its documents in Middle Ages. 3. Czech office and its documents before 1620. 4. Czech office and its documents before 1749. 5. Offices of central institutions in Vienna. 6. Offices of nobility administration and its documents before 1749. 7. Offices of nobility administration and its documents after 1749. 8. Offices and documents of county administration. 9. Office and documents of the Czech chamber. 10. Office and documents of appellation court. 11. Desky zemské a dvorské. 12. Land registries. 13. Questions of relation of medieval and early modern diplomatics and their continuity.

Learning outcomes
Aim of the course is to introduce students to the development of early modern offices of central and nobility institutions and their documents until half of 19th century, and such in the connection to the history of central administration. Students will also learn about offices and documents of Czech chamber, appellation court and county administration. Attention will be paid also to land registers and to zemské and dvorské desky. Mention will also be the problematics of newest diplomatics since half of 19th century.
Student knows about the development of offices of central and nobility administration, and their documents.Student is able to use this knowledge when working with particular archive material - diplomatic analysis of deed.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of historical development of the Czech lands. Advantage of completion of course of history of central administration.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Student performance, Seminar Work

Attendance at least 80%. Credits will be given based on active participation during seminar and diplomatic analysis of deed.
