Learning outcomes
The lectures introduce the history, terminology, methodology and basic knowledge of the fields, i. e. paleography, diplomatics, codicology, epigraphics, heraldry, sphragistics, genealogy, numismatics, historical metrology and chronology. Lectures follow and develop topics given by basic literature. The seminars are focused on reading and transcript (transcription and transliteration) of the Czech and Latin texts from 10th to 15th century written in Caroline minuscule and Gothic scripts,and moreover a blazon of coats of arms. HF
A student will be acquainted with basic literature of paleography, diplomatics, heraldry and sphragistics, editions of various types of historical sources and terminology used for their description. Except for the theoretical knowledge of the auxilliary historical disciplines, a student manages reading some historical scripts from the 10th to 15th century and a blason of a coat of arms. HF

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance, Written exam

Active preparation for lessons, reading of assigned texts, a blazon of coats of arms, class participation. A successfull passing of a credit test, which includes transliteration of Latin text written by Caroline minuscule, transcription of Czech text written by a Gothic script and a blazon of 4 coats of arms. HF
