Course content
Content of the seminar will be, in first lessons, an introduction to the issue, i.e. an explanation of basic terminology and cataloguing rules . The practice will focus on an identification of a composition, its author (or its editor or creator of text or libretto), copyist (or publisher and printer in case of printed composition), another part of the practice will be correct arrangement of pages of a particular sheet of music. Further attention will be paid to musical character (score, particelli, short score, voices) and to the method of preservation of a cataloged song. Whole process of cataloguing will be explained gradually and every student will have to create, until the end of a semester, catalogue records of circa 30 compositions. There is a database in MS Acess available for purpose of a catalogue. PZ

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to teach students principles of a correct cataloguing of a music material and to use this knowledge in a practical treatment of preserved music material. Every student will have to make catalogue recors of circa 30 compositions. PZ
The ability to sort parts of a musical notation and to create its detailed cataloguing record. PZ
Prerequisites
Elementary knowledge of neo-gothic and humanistic scripts reading, knowledge of music theory on the elementary school level. PZ

Student performance

Credits will be given according to active participation on courses, colloquium will be evaluated according to a quality of student's catalogue records of compositions. PZ
