This course follows up the basic course Highlights of the Czech Archaeological Heritage, which represents the main cultural processes in prehistory, protohistory and the Middle Ages in the Czech Republic, from the perspective of regional archaeological research. The course The Czech Archaeological Heritage in the Central European Context developes the knowledge of the international context and importance of the territory of the Czech Republic for the Central European and European research contexts. Recommended reading contains a supplementary material enlighting either the subsidiary topics or the material that may be more difficult to comprehend. A study trip will be a complementary part of the lectures. The course is designed particularly for foreign students of history and archaeology coming in the frame of the Erasmus+ programme.
A broad awareness of the diversity and specifics of the archaeological heritage in Czech Republic.
