Course content
Lectures: 1.-2nd Introduction to the matters - the subject and object of the studies; inclusion within the historical sciences, specialization in archaeology, auxiliary archaeological disciplines - characteristics, possibilities of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary cooperation. 3rd Definition of archaeological terms and terminology, types of archaeological sources, their characteristics, content and grading. 4th The principles of periodization and chronology, periodizational criteria, types of periodizations, Typology - its principles, results, criticism and possibilities of current use. Comparative methods in archaeology, the principles of analogy, possibilities of usage of ethnographic parallels. 5th Experimental archaeology, Methodology of dating - absolute and relative chronology. Contemporary scientific and technical methods of absolute chronology (radiometry, paleomagnetism, thermoluminescence, dendrochronology, pollen-spectra method). 6.-11th Outline of the methodology development and history of archaeological research - archaeological paradigms. 12th The structure of Czech and Moravian Archaeology - types of organizations operating in the domestic archaeology, current role and hierarchy of archaeological institutions, communication between institutions, the role of archaeological institutions and its perspective. 13th The visitation regional archaeological department. Seminars: 1st Types of information sources in archaeology and archaeological libraries. 2nd Basic archaeological journals and books (1). 3rd Basic archaeological journals and books (2). 4th Basic archaeological journals and books (3). 5th Basic archaeological journals and books (4). 6th Used forms of literature citations, finding reports and sources. 7th Used forms of literature citations, finding reports and sources - exercises. 8th Used forms of literature citations, finding reports and sources - exercises. 9th Methods of compiling archaeological papers, lectures, studies, articles and reviews. 10th Search methods of analogies and application form springs. 11-12th The possibility of using the available archaeological database system (SAS, Archive, Demus) 13th Visit selected regional archaeological department and its preservatory laboratory.

Learning outcomes
Lectures: The main target of subject is understanding of subject and object of study Archaeology. Students are introduced to professional matters, terminology and definition of archaeological terms. Students familiar with history of discipline and with each archaeological paradigms. Seminars: Seminars solve matters of information sources - overview of professional archaeological literature and basic work with it. Seminars focus on writing archaeological papers, lectures, studies, articles, and reviews. Students are learned forms of citations of literature, findings report and sources, searching analogy and forms of using sources. Students are acquainted with using the avaible archaeological database system (SAS, Archaeological map of CR, Demus, Museion etc.) and internet. Important part of seminars is visitation regional archaeological department.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

Attend entrance turitorial - 1 hour: acquainted with contein and form of study subject, delivery resource materials. Attend running turitorial - 2l+2s: lecture with theme Introduce to matters, seminar with theme Types of information sources and using forms of citations in Archaeology Consultations - Consultations are not least the two at beggining and in the end of semester: determination of procedure of individual studies and establish tasks. When student need, he can establish more consultations. Student can select form of consultation with lecturers - personal, by email, skype, facebook etc. Study is controled by series of tasks, which student does between consultations. Subject is finished by attestation by Written Test (Test with questions) and Colloquium by oral conversation (analysis of results in test and discussion on selected themes).
