Course content
Lectures: 1st Intorduction to issue of La Téne Period in Central Europe - terminology, chronological systems, literature, history of Archaeology of La Téne Period, historical frame and writing source, problem of ethnicity. 2nd Burial rite - basic characteristic and regional variety, types of burial rite, form of manipulation with body. 3rd Lowland settlement areas - characteristic and hierarchy, types of housing facilities, forms of livelihood (agriculture, breeding and hunt). 4th Hill-top settlement areas - characteristic and hierarchy, types of fortifications. 5th Hoards and sanctuary - definition of terms, types of hoards and sanctuaries, possibilites of interpretation and identification, the main finds. 6th Crafts and new technologies - ironmonger, jewelry, minting, quern stones, pottery, glassblowing. 7th Art of La Téne Period - characteristic of art style and chronological development, the most famous artifacts of art in La Téne, symbols in artefacts. 8th Central Europe and Mediterranean - import and trade. 9th Púchov Culture - history of research, geographical expansion, settlement and burial areas, problem of etnicity, mint. 10th Podmokly and Kobyly Group - history of research, geographical expansion, settlement and burial areas, problem of ethnicity, relation to La Téne Period. 11th Social structure in La Téne Period - possibilities of identification of diffeneces in social hierarchy in archaeological sources in La Téne Period. 12th Anthropology of La Téne Period. 13th Reception of La Téne Period and Celts against Roman Period to Modern Age. Seminars 1st Fibulas. 2nd Ceramics 3rd Presentation of student´s posts about selected theme (1). 4th Coins. 5th Presentation of student´s posts about selected theme (2). 6th Metal, glass jewels and amulets. 7th Presentation of student´s posts about selected theme (3). 8th Metal tools and instruments. 9th Presentation of student´s posts about selected theme (4). 10th Warrior´s weaponry and equipment. 11th Presentation of student´s posts about selected theme (5). 12th Stone artifacts, antler and bone industry, amber. 13th Presentation of student´s posts about selected theme (6).

Learning outcomes
The main target is familiarized with issue of La Téne Period in Central Europe (Czech lands and neighboring part of Slovakia). Lessons are organized in logical structured temathical part. Seminars focuse on typical artifacts from La Těne Period and on individual work of students about selected topics. Seminars foster information from lessons.
Good orientation in matters of La Téne Period in Central Europe (Czech lands, neigboring parts of Slovakia), basic knowledge of typical artifacts from La Téne Period and its dating.
Prerequisites
Basic orientation in La Téne Period (from History of prehistory).

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance

Attend entrance turitorial - 1 hour: acquainted with contein and form of study subject, delivery resource materials. Attend at study programm at UP whole day long - three lectures focus on selected themes from La Téne Period, one seminar is based on students presentation. Consultations - Consultations are not least the two at beggining and in the end of semester: determination of procedure of individual studies and establish tasks. When student need, he can establish more consultations. Student can select formo of consultation with lecturers - personal, by email, skype, facebook etc. Study is controled by series of tasks, which student does between consultations. Subject is finished by attestation by Credits (presentation) and Oral Examination.
