The main archaeobotanical (sub)disciplines, their requirements, capabilities and limitations will be presented. Emphasis will be placed on proper sampling, storage and initial processing of samples. The second part of the course will provide students with basic information about the diversity of biotopes in the Czech Republic and plants as their main components, with an emphasis on human interaction. In the final part the main cultural plants of the Old World and the development of their cultivation will be introduced.
The student will acquire a basic overview of the work of archaeobotany, in archaeological research will be able to take samples for individual types of archaeobotanical analyzes and will learn how to classify and determine archaeobotanical material.
