Course content
Lectures: Chipped industry 1st Introduction to terminology, principles and possibilities of stone chipping, cleavable stone raw materials. 2nd An overview of modern methods and history of research. 3rd Technical, technological and morphological typology og chipped industry. 4th Work procedure of description, determination of raw material, dynamic analysis, morphotypological description, functional determination, technological analysis and fact´s analysis. 5th Documentation, convectional symbols, principles of paint and other types of documentation, space models in chipped industry. 6th An overview of chipped industry in Paleolithic and Mesolithic. 7th An overview of chipped industy in Neolithic and Eneolithic. 8th An overview of chipped industry in Bronze Age and Hallstat Period. Polished industry 9th Introduction to terminology, spectrum of raw materials, and work procedure. 10th Morphotypology. 11th An overview of polihed industry in prehistory - Paleolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic. 12th An overview of polished industry in prehistory - Neolithic and Eneolithic. 13th An overview of polished industry and other stone industry form prehistory to Postmedieval Period. Seminars and exercises Seminars are focused on practice exercises of determination´s methods of chipped and polished industry (technical, technological and typological parameters). Seminars contain examples of analyses, databases, space models. Students try documentary practice and documentary draw for professional literature. Student have to practice draw and description at home - running tasks.

Learning outcomes
The main target is familiarized student with stone artifacts (chipped and polished industry). Chipped industry: terminology, technics of knapping, typology, description, analysis od facts, overview of development of chipped artifacts, principles of paint and othed types of documentation. Polished industry: introduction to terminology, the raw spectrum, process of manufacturing, morphotypology, an overview of development of polished industry and other stene industry in prehistory.
Practical knowledge of description, dating and determination of stone industry and draw documentation.
Prerequisites
Basic orientation in archaeological cultures in Central Europe.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

(1) Excursion: 39 hours = 1,5 credits; (2) Discharging running tasks in seminars/exercises: 13 hours = 0,5 credits; (3) Prepare to attestation: 25 hours = 1,5 credits.
