Course content
|
Students will deepen their geographical knowledge of the Central European region and strengthen their skills in applying geographical methods to the study of a selected region. At the same time, they will practice their ability to communicate on regional geographic topics in English. Main Topics: 1. Delimitation of the Central European region 2. Physical geography of Central Europe 3. Demographic characteristics of Central European countries 4. Brief outline of the historical development of Central Europe with an emphasis on the 19th to 21st centuries 5. Economic characteristics of Central Europe 6. Integration processes in Central Europe 7. Regional disparities in Central Europe 8. Current issues and developmental trends in Central Europe

Learning outcomes
|
Students will broaden their geographical knowledge about the region of Central Europe and further develop their skills in applying geographical methods in studying a selected region. Moreover they will excercise their skills in communicating in English about regional geographical topics.
Understanding geographical organization of Central Europe and discussing this topic in English.

|
Knowledge within the extent of lectures on geography of Europe.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral exam, Student performance, Dialog
Active participation in the seminar, engagment in the discussions and seminar presentation on a selected topic. Communication skills in English, intermediate level, are expected.
