Course content
|
The course covers the following topics: the main components of research designliterature review, objectives, methods; an overview of research at geography departments in the Czech Republic; selected topics in geographical subdisciplines (e.g., perception of space, mental mapping and its applications; current research in energy geography; a geographical approach to climate change research; regions and regionalization; a geographical approach to the study of electoral behavior; abandoned ponds as part of the historical landscape; the geography of housing; the geography of gambling; information technology in physical geography and environmental research).

Learning outcomes
|
The goal of this course is for students to master best practices in conducting their own geographic research. Examples from selected geographic subdisciplines are used to highlight both good and bad practices.
Teoretical knowledge and practical skill of geographicall approach to the research of selected topics.

Prerequisites
|
Successful completion of at least one year of university study and a working knowledge of English. Suitable as preparation for independent research, such as for a thesis.
