Course content
|
The course takes the form of an individually or group-solved research task within one of the department's research teams. At the beginning of the semester, students choose from the topics announced by individual research teams. The content of the work depends on the needs of the specific research project and may include: primary data collection in the field or from available sources, data digitization and processing, preparation of a literature review, creation of map or graphical outputs, or other partial research activities. The progress of the work is regularly consulted with the responsible member of the research team. At the end of the semester, the student submits a report on the work done and presents its results.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to engage students in active research practice at the departmental workplace. At the beginning of the semester, students choose one of the topics announced by the department's research teams and, under the guidance of an experienced researcher, become acquainted with the real course of the scientific process - from formulating a research problem through data collection and processing to the interpretation and presentation of results. The course develops students' ability to work in a team, critically engage with scientific information, and contribute concretely to solving a research task.
The student understands the course of the scientific research process and its individual phases. They are able to actively participate in data collection, digitization or processing, preparation of literature reviews, or other partial research tasks according to the needs of the research team. The student is able to work within a research team, follow established methodological procedures, and clearly present the results of their work.

Prerequisites
|
Knowledge within the scope of basic geographical disciplines at the corresponding level of study. Ability to work with academic literature and basic methods of geographical research.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance, Final project
Active participation in solving the assigned research task throughout the semester. Regular consultations with the responsible member of the research team according to an agreed schedule. Submission of a final report documenting the course, methods used, and results of the work. Presentation of results to the research team or at the final course meeting.
