Course content
The course is designed as block teaching combining a theoretical introduction with the practical creation and presentation of visual outputs. In the first block, students are introduced to the principles of data visualization (what data visualization is, principles of good and bad visualization, colour selection, readability, colour blindness), forms of data visualization in geography, and principles of public presentation. The block includes examples of various outputs and their critical evaluation. Students are also introduced to selected tools (Flourish, Datawrapper, Napkin AI) and receive the assignment for their own output. After the first block, students work independently on their visual output (with the option of ongoing consultations). In the second block, all students present their outputs, with presentations accompanied by discussion and feedback from peers and the instructor.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the principles of effective data visualization and presentation in geography. Students will acquire skills in creating quality visual outputs (maps, charts, infographics, storymaps, posters) and in presenting them publicly. Emphasis is placed on the independent creation of an original visual output and its defence before an audience.
The student explains the principles of good and bad data visualization, including colour selection and accessibility (colour blindness). They distinguish forms of data visualization used in geography (maps, atlases, charts, infographics, posters, storymaps) and select an appropriate output type for a given purpose. They work with selected data visualization tools (Flourish, Datawrapper, Napkin AI). They create an original visual output on a geographical topic and present it publicly, following the principles of presentation structure and timing.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of geographical subjects at the bachelor's level of study. Successful completion of the course "Preparation of Specialized Texts", which this course builds upon.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance, Analysis of linguistic, Final project

Active participation in both teaching blocks. Submission of an original visual output on a geographical topic by the set deadline and its defence during a presentation. Incorporation of feedback into the final version of the output.
