Course content
|
The formation of the concept of sustainable development, theoretical foundations and pillars of sustainable development, indices and indicators in sustainable development, Agenda 21 and Local Agenda 21, the sustainable city (Healthy City, Green City, Smart City, Compact City), current trends in the sustainable development of settlements and regions (in the Czech Republic), examples of best practices in the sustainable development of settlements and regions from abroad, fundamentals of research in the field of sustainable development.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the issues of sustainable development and related concepts in the context of Czech settlements and regions.
Students will be able to apply recent trends in sustainable development to the development of settlements and regions in the Czech Republic.

Prerequisites
|
Knowledge within the scope of general geographical disciplines of the bachelor study of geography.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Written exam, Essay, Seminar Work
Knowledge covered in lectures, seminars, and the recommended literature. Completion of assigned seminar papers.
