Course content
|
The course will focus on the following digital tools and teaching aids: webGIS tools for teaching (Mapchart, Datawrapper, StoryMaps, Landsat Explorer), digital teaching technology (Wernier systems, 3D printing), teaching tools (Mentimeter, Nearpod, Slido, Padlet), virtual and augmented reality (Google VR, Stellarium, LandscapAR), and the use of AI in geography teaching (examples of good and bad practice).

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to apply digital skills to the teaching of geography as an integral part of a modern teacher's toolkit, and to use examples to illustrate the possibilities for deploying these technologies in the preparation and delivery of geography lessons at secondary schools. The course focuses on acquiring practical skills in working with selected software applications (with an emphasis on freeware applications) in order to expand the portfolio of digital literacy and digital competences, which course graduates will use not only to prepare their own lessons, but also to pass on the competences they have acquired to their future pupils and students. The course fulfils the key competences of graduates of teacher training: 1.1 I understand the subjects I teach and continue to develop my knowledge of them, 1.2 I convey the content of the subjects I teach to pupils in a pedagogically appropriate manner, in line with their educational needs; 3.3 I ensure the appropriate organisation of both the physical space and the digital environment in which learning takes place; 6.2 I work responsibly with information and digital tools, guide pupils towards democratic values, and act in accordance with professional ethics.
Students will acquire the skills to use the digital technologies presented, in combination with geographical teaching aids, and thus to plan, prepare and deliver geography lessons at secondary school effectively and responsibly. Students will therefore align with competence framework points 1.1.4, 1.2.2, 3.3.4 and 6.2.3.

Prerequisites
|
The basics of working with a computer and software tools, covering the material from previous geography teaching modules.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance, Final project
Regular attendance at seminars (one absence permitted). As part of the seminar project, students will design, prepare and give a practical demonstration of a sample teaching activity using the tools presented. The term project relates to competences 1.2.2 and 2.2.3
