Course content
. Past and present of the Internet and its basic services (Web, e-mail, FTP). 2. Description of OSI layers and underlying protocols. 3. The fundamentals of computer networks and their management. 4. Client setup for network connections and network services (IP, DNS). 5. RSS, Cloud applications (online editors of documents, photos, etc.), data sharing services. 6. E-mail and its administration (SMTP, POP3, IMAP), spam, webmail and security issues. 7. Internet security - attacks, security of the client/server, basic principles of cryptography. Security examples of network services. Configuration of firewall. 8. Search engines and use of Internet information services. 9. Working with select prepaid Internet information services. 10. The basic structure of web pages. 11. Creating of web pages in HTML. 12. Basics of the web server administration. 13. Future of the Internet (IPv6 Cloud applications, Social Network Analysis - use and selected software).

Learning outcomes
This course is focused on acquisition and application of basic knowledge of the use of computer networks, Internet, HTML, information sources, fundamentals of network security, use of network services.
The student is able to work with client network settings, network security, acquires knowledge of the functioning of basic Internet services like email, Web, IP, DHCP, DNS, VPN, WLAN, and basic knowledge of HTML.
