Thematic Areas: Brief overview of the anatomy and physiology of the nervous system Neuron, neurotransmitter, and synapse. Reflex theory More complex regulatory mechanisms of nervous system activity Mechanisms of motor control Sensorimotor mechanisms at the spinal, brainstem, and cortical levels Functional interconnection between the motor and nervous systems Possibilities of assessment using neurophysiological methods Clinical examination for detecting disorders of neurophysiological mechanisms The essential role of CNS control functions in the physical, emotional, and social integrity of the individual as a basis for successful rehabilitation The most common disorders of the nervous system in rehabilitation and physiotherapy practice

Learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, Work with Text (with Book, Textbook), Methods of Written Work
  • Attendace - 13 hours per semester
  • Preparation for the Course Credit - 7 hours per semester
  • Homework for Teaching - 7 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
Students acquire basic knowledge of and become familiar with the basic concepts of neurophysiology, especially of the neurophysiology of motion. This knowledge is then diretly followed-up by other disciplines and subject fields, which the students will learn during their further studies and apply them later in their practise.
Student knows neurophysiology of nerves, muscles, neuromuscular transfer, receptors, and reflexes.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of human anatomy.

Assessment methods and criteria
Mark, Oral exam, Didactic Test
