Course content
|
Lectures: 1. Introduction to kinesiology and methods of examining the musculoskeletal system. Components of the musculoskeletal system, the segmental model of the human body. Planes of the body. 2. Goniometry. 3. Hypermobility, functional tests of the spine, plumb line examination. 4. Shortened and weakened muscles, movement patterns, syndromes according to Prof. Janda Basic groups of musculoskeletal dysfunction. 5. Medical history, kinesiological analysis. 6. Functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system - segments, pelvic disorders Seminars: 1. Fundamentals of anthropometric measurement. 2. Goniometric examination. 3. Fundamentals of spinal examination. Functional tests of the spine. Postural assessment. 4. Testing for hypermobility. Testing for shortened muscles. 5. Clinical examination of standing posture with a focus on muscular imbalances. 6. Testing of movement patterns.

Learning outcomes
|
The main goals of the lessons are to inform students about kinesiotherapy examination methods of locomotor system (e.g. range of motion examination, examination of hypermobility, muscle dysbalances, spine function test, basic movement stereotypes).
As part of their clinical practice, students are able to apply the following examination methods: goniometry, examination of shortened and weakened muscles, examination of hypermobility and movement patterns. They are able to take a patient's medical history and carry out a basic kinesiological analysis.

Prerequisites
|
The prerequisity for study of this course is sufficient knowledge og human anatomy. Knowledge of kinesiology of human locomotor system is the fundamental prerequisity of mastering of diagnostic methods.

100% attendance at classes, successful completion of the assessment test.
