Course content
Seminar introduces drama production of the contemporary Czech authors. It is heading towards determination of specific signs in contemporary drama. The seminar focuses on reflection and analysis dramatic works of contemporary Czech writers and aims to determine the specific features of contemporary playwrights, to characterize changes poetics, style, genre trends and topics. Topics: The context of the 'new wave drama 90s " Post-dramatic tendencies in Czech drama Basic concepts of analysis The current dramatic reflection of political issues Genre of political satire in drama and cabaret forms Journalistic drama and docu-drama Individual authors, analysis of texts and staging: Lubos Balak, Lenka Lagronová, Iva Volánková, Marek Horoščák, David Drabek, Miroslav Bambušek, George Honzírek, Tomáš Vůjtek, Petr Kolecko and more.

Learning outcomes
The aim of seminar is to reflect and analyze drama production of the contemporary Czech authors. It is heading towards determination of specific signs in contemporary drama. The seminar focuses on reflection and analysis dramatic works of contemporary Czech writers and aims to determine the specific features of contemporary playwrights, to characterize changes poetics, style, genre trends and topics.
Overview in the field of contemporary Czech drama, ability of text analysis. Students are able to analyze dramatic text using the terminology. They are familiar with the context of the drama of the period and can assess individual tendencies in drama. They can formulate their own opinion, interpret the thematic structure of the dramatic text and text to create a structured training using all the formalities. Students are able to evaluate the consistency and continuity of expressive means, generalize trends and relate them to contemporary context of drama and theater.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of contemporary drama context and basic terms of drama theory.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance, Systematic Observation of Student, Seminar Work

Knowledge of analyzed texts, active work with texts, active discussion, written analysis of chosen title. At least 75% attendance on lessons.
