Learning outcomes
|
The course is conceived as an introduction to the history of major national cinemas or artistic movements and styles. The focus is laid on the region of Central and Eastern Europe. Selected topics: Modern Cinema of Central Europe, Soviet Cinema after WW2, The Cinemas of Balkan, French New Wave, Nordic Cinema, History of Classical Hollywood Cinema, Japanese Cinema after WW2. TOPIC FOR SUMMER 2019-2020: Selected Chapters from the History of Film and TV Lectures by: Klára Feikusová, Milan Hain, Jana Jedličková, Veronika Klusáková, Jakub Korda Annotation: The course will introduce the students to selected topics from the history of film and television. All lectures are preceded by related film or TV screenings. The course is conducted in the English language and is open to the students of the Department of Theater and Film Studies, students of other departments at the Faculty of Arts as well as exchange students from abroad. Recommended English language proficiency: B2.
Student will gain the detailed knowledge of world cinema history which he will use in his further professional practise as film historian.

Requirements: - familiarity with assigned readings (6 in total) - final written test with a score of at least 70 %
