online: Friday 1-3pm , 31st October Friday 1-3pm , 14th November Friday 1-3pm , 5th December in-person workshop, an intensive three-day session with Phoebe: January 14th-16th or over the weekend in January 16th-18th The course combines online sessions with one in-person meeting with the instructor in January 2026. This model draws on extensive teaching experience across audio workshops throughout Europe and is conceived as a grassroots alternative to large festivals like Prix Europaa growing network of audio enthusiasts and creators. You don't need institutions or gatekeepers! Learn from one another and connect directly with creative peers! This intensive course uses the SmallAudioArt methodology to transform everyday objects into storytelling portals. A worn-out jacket, your grandmother's teacup, or a childhood toy can all become the key to creating compelling audio documentaries about identity, memory, and belonging. You'll learn to weave interviews, found sound, and poetic narration into intimate audio pieces. Through hands-on workshops, you'll develop multimedia documentary techniques while working with stories that matter to you personally. We'll analyze contemporary audio documentaries, engage in collaborative critique sessions that strengthen your work, and venture outdoors to collect natural sounds that become musical backdrops for your pieces. This isn't about technical perfectionit's about discovering creative approaches to access the stories that have shaped you. By course end, you'll have created several 3-minute audio sketches and one polished 10-minute piece, all developed through peer feedback and supported experimentation.
