Course content
|
The program of the seminar will focus on collaboration with the student server Divá base - divabaze.cz. Course emphasis the development of the critical skills of the students (argumentation, discussion and writing of the analysis or review). Topics are: 1. Presentation of the project Divá base, opening discussion on the topic of present-day theatre and theatre criticism. 2. Elementary reflection of the current theatrical events - discussion. 3. Typology of theatrical genres and forms of critical assumptions and criteria theater critics.Definition of the theatre critic - his profile and key skills. 4. Presentation and evaluation rubrics of Divá base. 5. Editorial structure of Divé base. 6. Analysis of the performance, aspects of the judgment; presentations of student critical reflections. 7. Presentations of student critical reflections. 8. Correction of student texts. 9. The art of conversation and report. 10.Critical Style in connection with the character and the addressee media criticism. 11. Art of theatre review,ethics of theater critics. 12. Presentation of the student's critical reflections and their evaluation

Learning outcomes
|
The aims of course is a link between common contents of the studies and the server´s core purpose, combining them into a co-educational platform, enabling an easier presentation of student´s written works to broader public. These works concentrate mainly on reflexion about contemporary theatre.Course provides the introduction to the issue of theatre criticism. Lectures will introduce criticism as a part of theatre studies, its function and main goals and possible present progress. Students will learn about theatre-critics genres. Course emphasis critical thinking of students by giving practical tasks. It develops student's analytic skills using discussion and polemic abilities.
Realisation of this project will enhance the practical aspects of the education, as well as quality of the server´s contents. Divá báze in its improved form will serve as a platform for students to gain practical experience and develop their publishing & editorial work skills, yet may also further support the server´s potential to reach an even wider audience interested in contemporary theatre culture. Student prove the knowledge of the theatre criticism in both theoretical and practical fields. Student is aware of the issue of theatre criticism (purpose, goal, genres etc.). Course offers practical application of acquired theory of the theatre criticism. Student is able to apply his/her knowledge and critical thinking in several aspects (written critical analysis, discussion etc.). Student is prepared to apply his skills in the public media.

Prerequisites
|
The knowledge of the theatre theory within the range of the first year of studies is necessary (theatre seminar - analysis, Introduction to theatre studies. It is recommended to read at least one books from the list of the recommended literature.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance
At least 75% attendance and active discussion on lectures. Students will hand in 3-4 individual written reflections based on given topic (reflection of the chosen inscenation, each theatre-critical genres, decription of theatres in Olomouc, theatre festivals et.)
