Course content
|
Archives of the Avant-Garde in Czechoslovakia: Between Theatre and Film Field Trip to Prague, 25 January 2027 This field trip introduces students to the archives and "audiovisual memory" of the interwar avant-garde in Czechoslovakia through visits to memory institutions and a film screening. We will visit the Theatre Department of the National Museum, the Ponrepo Cinema of the National Film Archive, and relevant exhibitions currently on display. The main highlight of the excursion will be an evening screening of avant-garde films at Ponrepo. We will discuss research on the avant-garde with Libor Vodička, Head of the Theatre Department of the National Museum, Sylva Poláková, curator at the National Film Archive, and researcher Meghan Forbes. Important Information for Students Please be prepared to cover your own transportation costs and the cinema admission fee (approximately CZK 100). As we will be moving between several locations in Prague, we recommend wearing comfortable clothing and footwear. Please also bring refreshments and water for the day. Students planning to return to Olomouc the same evening should expect a late arrival. Alternatively, you may wish to consider staying overnight in Prague.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with current events in theater culture and theatrology by means of domestic excursions. Excursions are mainly focused on visiting performances, but also exhibitions, special lectures and conferences.
The student gets to know the current theater and performance culture.

|
Essay, Student performance
Adherence to the UP Study and Examination Regulations, the ability to empathize and cooperate in a group, especially when traveling together; the ability to overcome obstacles and endure a more demanding journey, especially at night. The student ends the course with a written reflection of the field trip in the scope of 2 standard pages sent to the excursion organiser.
