Course content
|
1. Introduction, contents and aims of the seminar, recommended literature to the subject 2. Problems of transcription and transliteration, rules for a critical edition 3. Editing the text: possibilities, principles, and rules 4. Editing the Old Czech literary works (the editions made by K. J. Erben, A. Grund, Q. Hodura, E. Petrů etc.) 5. The present editions of the Old Czech texts: rules and methods (e.g. Atlantis - Thesaurus absconditus, Nakladatelství Lidové noviny - Česká knižnice, Host, Scriptorium etc.; the edition of Hájek's Kronika česká) 6. Guest lecture (an editor of Old Czech texts) from other universities or institutes (MU Brno, ÚČL AV ČR Praha etc.) 7. Digitalizing the Old Czech texts: possible methods 8. Checking the students' outputs, discussing problems and questions that may come out during the transcription etc.

Learning outcomes
|
Students will gain knowledge necessary for preparing a modern edition of an early Czech literary text with all required proprieties. They will learn about contemporary practise of digitalisation of early Czech literary works.
