Course aim: to present the specific features of teaching Czech to non-native speakers and to highlight the differences inherent in this field. Topics: 1. Native language, foreign language, second language, and target language. 2. The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). 3. Communicative competence and its components. 4. Modes of communication and language skills. 5. Fluency in a foreign language. 6. Grammatical accuracy in a foreign language. 7. Reading comprehension strategies. 8. Listening comprehension strategies. 9. Mediation and interaction. 10. Sociocultural competence. 11. Compensatory strategies. 12. The development of academic language skills.

Learning outcomes: graduates of the course are prepared to convey the system of the Czech language to non-native speakers, with particular emphasis on pronunciation, noun declension, and verb conjugation.
