Course content
|
1) Characteristics of the functional style, determination of its specifics, standard of academic style and its application in practice. 2) Genres of academic style, spoken and written style in professional communication, traditional versus contemporary texts of academic style. 3) Structure and composition of academic texts, function of individual parts of professional work, horizontal and vertical arrangement of communication. Layout of work and project preparation. 4) Composition of a diploma thesis and its structural parts. 6) Intertextuality, resource work and secondary literature, citation standard.

Learning outcomes
|
Students will determine the style of professional communication, master the norms of professional communication, are able to interpret and produce professional texts, recognize the basic genres of professional communication, master their rules and be able to apply them in their own writing. They master the orthographic norms of the Czech language.
Students are able to use Czech language at the level of academic communication. They are able to interpret and produce professional texts, recognize the basic genres of professional communication, master the rules of the genre and can apply them in his own writing. Prerequisites
|
Knowledge of the English language at the B1 level, familiarity with the conventions of academic/professional style.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance, Seminar Work
Students are able to read and adequately interpret a professional text; they are able to produce a professional text. They write an original text of the required genre of professional communication and prepare a presentation for it.
