Course content
Lecture topics: 1) Theoretical consideration of constructing and mediation of trauma and memory in literary texts about WW2 (e.g. Němá barikáda by J. Drda, Zbabělci by J. Škvorecký, Pád města by Z. Rotrekl) 2) Memory and trauma in popular culture media (e.g. in Alois Nebel comic book) 3) Narrative and postmemory (esp. about the novel Chladná země by Jáchym Topol)

Learning outcomes
The terms "memory" and "trauma" may appear in common speech in various contexts and meanings quite often. But what are "memory" and "trauma" in culture, and cultural and literary theory? The link between literature and cultural remembering, or between literature and cultural memory, has several aspects. It is these aspects that become the subject of the course taught by Dr. phil. Alexander Kratochvil (Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Universität Greifswald), currently the intern at Prague's Ústav pro českou literaturu AV ČR, v. v. i.
