Course content
|
The course provides students with practical English skills to communicate effectively and express themselves with accuracy and fluency. They should improve their skills in reading, listening, writing and speaking, as well as develop a range of vocabulary (idioms, phrasal verbs, collocations) and accuracy in grammar. Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to expand students' knowledge of practical English at the C1 level. Emphasis is placed on the use of all language skills, grammar, and vocabulary in communication. In terms of vocabulary, the focus will be primarily on English idioms, phrasal verbs, and synonyms. During one semester, students will cover the material of 4 units (9-12) from the textbook Soars, J., Soars, L. and Hancock, P. Headway: Advanced: Student's Book with Online Practice (5th edition). 2019. Oxford: OUP. Links and additional exercises are available on the website www.moodle.upol.cz.
The aim of this course is to develop and practice all five skills i.e. reading, listening, speaking, use of English and writing, and effectively prepare students for the C1-level exam. Students gain an in-depth knowledge of English and master the advanced level of English with confidence.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Essay, Student performance, Analysis of linguistic, Didactic Test
80% attendance at lessons, active participation, completion of all classroom tasks and assignments, continuous assessment of speaking and listening. Passing the final test consisting of writing, reading, grammar and vocabulary of the four units covered (pass score 70%).
