In the field of nephrology, the content is focused on acute and chronic kidney failure and its metabolic a cardiovascular impact, indication and replacement of kidney function, including hemodialysis and transplantation, and basic diseases of the kidneys and urinary tract, including glomerulonephritis, interstitial nephritis, secondary kidney damage (diabetic nephropathy and damage caused by systemic diseases of the connective tissue and vasculitis, etc.). Students are introduced to the principles of modern pharmacotherapy in hematology and nephrology, they acquire practical skills in approaching patients with these conditions. Clinical scenario simulators are also used to train practical skills. Practical exercises then take place at the Department of Internal Medicine III, Department of Hemato-oncology and at the Transfusion station. Practical training consists of the instruction of the teacher, the taking of patient?s history, the physical examination of the patient, the compilation of documentation, the proposal of a diagnostic procedure and treatment plan. The part of practical teaching is also a description of X-ray findings, ECG curves and interpretation of available imaging and laboratory examinations. After the independent and teacher-supervised part of the work, there is a part dedicated to the discussion and analysis of the findings and issues of the patients with the teacher.
