They will acquire knowledge about social relationships within families and professional groups.
Upon completion students understand the social and cultural factors that influence health and illness, and are able to integrate this knowledge into the planning and implementation of preventive and intervention strategies. They are capable of identifying and analyzing the social determinants of health, working with diverse target populations, and adapting communication to cultural and social contexts. They understand the importance of community-based approaches and public participation in improving health. They are able to apply ethical principles in public health and reflect on social inequalities when designing health promotion programs.
