The main topics (blocks) of teaching: - The concept of philosophy and ethics in medicine and nursing. - The historical roots of medical and nursing ethics. - Current major sources of medical and nursing ethics, ethical principles. - The relationship between law and nursing ethics. - Ethics committees. - Ethical issues at the beginning of life. Ethical issues at the end of life. - Principles of truth and falsehood in relation to the sick. - Ethical problems in health care management. - Research ethics. Allocation of scarce resources and justice.

Learning outcomes
|
The course is conceived as theoretical. It provides information on ethics related to public health, basic and special fields of medicine. It introduces the integration of ethical principles and the Code of Ethics and touches upon ethical principles in the actions and behaviour of health professionals towards patients and their families.
Upon completion of the course, the student understands ethical principles and their relevance to decision-making, leadership, and the organization of healthcare services. She is able to identify ethical issues and dilemmas in healthcare management, such as fair allocation of resources, transparency of decision-making processes, and accountability to patients, staff, and society. She can apply ethical frameworks and models when developing strategies, implementing changes, and evaluating the impact of managerial decisions. She understands the importance of trust, integrity, professional ethics, and social responsibility in the role of a leader. She is capable of leading ethical discussions within a multidisciplinary team and fostering an ethical culture within the organization.

Prerequisites
|
The prerequisites for studying the course Ethics include a basic understanding of the healthcare system and the role of a healthcare manager. The student should be able to reflect on ethical aspects of decision-making, justice, responsibility, and respect for the dignity of individuals and communities. A willingness to engage in discussions about ethical dilemmas related to resource allocation, care prioritization, staffing issues, equal access to services, and professional conduct is expected. The ability to understand professional texts and guidelines, analyze practical situations from an ethical point of view, and express reasoned opinions in professional discussion is essential.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance, Dialog, Systematic Observation of Student
Completion of seminars (90% participation). Verification of the acquired knowledge (completion of 80% of the tasks solved in class ). Colloquium in the scope of presentations in class and recommended literature.
