Course content |
The course includes various types of tourism: canoeing, cycling, orientation, hiking and activities that can be applied in summer nature. Canoeing elementary theoretical knowledge, use of various vessels for tourism, material equipment for river tourism, elementary canoeing and kayaking skills, tourist river signing, organization of river tourist events. Cycling technical inspection of bicycles, cycling technique, group cycling, safety and traffic rules, basic principles of bicycle maintenance and repair, organization of group cycling tours, didactics and team leadership, cycling games (skilfulness), cultural activities during cycling. Orientation, topography basic concepts, compass and its use, determining azimuths, estimating distances, competitions, using maps, terrain, transferring azimuths from a map to the terrain and vice versa, tourist signing, terrain profile, azimuth race, basics of orienteering. Rope activities historical development, applications, building materials and safety equipment, security equipment, knotting, basics of building low obstacles, securing methodology, abseiling, use of artificial wall, obstacle overcoming technique (rope climbing centre). Camping practice principles of staying and behaving in nature, attitudes to nature, safety provisions, camping, bivouac, staying in a tent, setting up a tent, campfire, types of campfires, camping skills, basics of botany, material and personal equipment for camping and tourism. Games in nature principles of staying in various types of terrain, with load, without load, games in nature with and without equipment, initiative games, strategic games, physical activity games, creative games, communication games, campfire games, summer camps competitions, team cooperation, experiential pedagogy. Stage game practical demonstration, game covers the whole camp, organization and inclusion of stage games in summer camps, basics of encryption, relevant legends, termination of stage game. Physical preparation biomechanical and medical view of walking and running, use of natural obstacles and other aids in physical exercise in nature, field running, (fartlek, cross), health running, Finnish trail, increasing physical fitness, competitions, regeneration, taking a sauna. Leisure activities nonconventional forms of sports activities, organization of camp tournaments and competitions.

Learning outcomes |
The course focuses on summer nature stays and various form of tourism. Tourism includes a wide range of skills and activities performed in a natural environment. The course focuses on sports and game activities, experiential education, ecology and other activities that can be performed in school as well as out-of-school physical education. Throughout the course the students learn basic knowledge, skills and organizational principles required for organizing camps, courses, training camps, sports activities and stays in summer nature. Information about this course was translated to English within the project Internationalization of the Faculty of Physical Culture, Palacký University, Olomouc, No. CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0028, co-funded by the European Social Fund and the Government of the Czech Republic.
Upon completion of the course the student: - Knows the basic principles of organizing courses, camps, training camps and sports activities in the area of tourism and stays in nature. - Knows the basic principles of using experiential pedagogy in a natural environment. - Is able to name and practically apply ecological rules of stays in nature. - Is able to use appropriate tourist equipment. |

This is a general course of the Bachelor's study and is designed for full-time students of the following courses: Physical education and sport, PE Teacher Course, Population Protection, Applied Physical Education, Applied physical activity and Recreation and Leisure Studies.

Credit requirements: - Completion of the whole course (active participation). - Practical requirements (orienteering, azimuth race, K1 kayak versatility race, C2 race, duathlon, Finnish trail). - 2-day cycling tour (organization, didactics, safety). - Theoretical requirements (written test). |
