Course content
Phases of drug metabolism. Main reactions of the first and second phase.Cytochromes P450 as the most important enzymes of drug metabolism. Genomics and proteomics of P450. Gene superfamily of P450. Function of P450 in drug metabolism, enzyme induction and inhibition. Gene polymorphism. Drug interactions, types. Clinically relevant pharmacokinetic drug interactions.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Work with Text (with Book, Textbook)
Learning outcomes
Students learn about the metabolism of the drugs, about cytochromes P450 which are responsible for metabolism of more than three fourth of drugs with known metabolic pathways. Students should be familiar also with the drug interactions at the level of drug metabolism (competition, inhibition or induction of P450 enzymes).
Students should be familiar with the metabolism and interaction of the main groups of drugs.
Prerequisites
Completion all of prescribed exams.

Assessment methods and criteria
Analysis of Activities ( Technical works), Dialog

Participation in all seminars.
