Course content
The teaching will be divided into 5 lessons. Each block will be dedicated to a specific topic, which as a whole form the complex prerequisites for acquiring basic skills in the field of soft techniques and pediatric palliative care. Lesson 1: Population diversity, specific needs of patients The goal of this part is to develop the perception of differences in our environment, identify factors that play a role in the perception of the diversity of our population. Distinguish and discuss the concept of equality and fairness of the care provided. In model situations, the student will try to identify factors that influence the perception of information that the patient gives us. Lesson 2: Motivation of the doctor and the healthcare team to provide effective care The goal of this part of the course is to work with various forms of motivation to provide healthcare in the context of the current healthcare system. Lesson 3: Communication and communicating important messages The goal of this part of the teaching is to distinguish individual factors that influence communication with the patient. In several model situations, the student identifies barriers that make communication with the patient difficult and devises a more effective way to conduct the interview with the patient. The emphasis is placed on patient autonomy as the main pillar of proper communication. In role-play situations, students learn to extract information from the interview with the patient and effectively convey this information to other team members. Lesson 4: Self-care One of the course activities is to identify the weaknesses and strengths of one's own personality. Self-care must become an integral part of the students' future professional life. In the course, students will try out some forms of relaxation and building their own resilience. Lesson 5: Children's palliative care, interdisciplinary cooperation: The goal of this part of the course is to familiarize students with the issues of children's palliative care. The emphasis is placed on communication with parents and creating a palliative care plan. At the end of the course, students are able to draw up a basic care plan for uncomplicated child patients. The effectiveness of care is conditioned by interdisciplinary cooperation, which will be emphasized.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to acquire "soft" skills that a doctor uses throughout his practice in practically all medical fields. These knowledge and skills enable more effective medical care, preventing conflict between doctor and patient. The development of these abilities enables better organization and leading a healthcare team, are the prevention of burnout syndrome. All these knowledge and skills are a prerequisite for providing quality curative and palliative care. Part of the teaching will be devoted to pediatric palliative care. Students will be familiar with the basics of palliative care in childhood and will be able to draw up a care plan for a child with palliative needs.
After completing the course, the student is able to communicate more effectively (according to the SPIKES and NURSE concepts) when communicating adverse news. In communication with the patient, he is better able to differentiate and possibly fulfill the patient's health needs.
