Course content
1. Introduction to consumer law, definition of terms 2. Private law regulation of consumer protection 3. Consumer protection in sales of goods in a shop and in conclusion of a contract for work 4. Producer's liability for damage caused by defects of the product 5. Consumer protection in legal acts carried out via internet 6. Public law consumer 7. Consumer directives of the EU 8. Issue of harmonization of the Czech consumer's protection legal regulation with the EU law 9. Case-law of Czech courts and the Court of Justice of the European Union on consumer's protection 10. Economical aspects of consumer's protection 11. Case studies focused on the issue of consumer's protection 12. Case studies focused on court proceedings in cases of consumers' interests protection

Learning outcomes
Students will be provided with practical problems within the framework of consumer protection under the Czech law. The practical part of the course consists of practical solutions to specific problems in the area of consumer law, which occur in practice, both in the form of a simulated contractual dispute and in a form of work with real clients accepted by the legal clinics. Students in this course will connect theoretical and practical knowledge in different areas of consumer law. They will also develop legal skills such as analyzing and solving legal case, writing legal documents, communication with clients and others.
Students who have completed this course will gain both practical and theoretical knowledge in the field of consumer law.
Prerequisites
The completion of this course is not conditioned upon completion of any other courses.

Student performance

It is essential that those students who would like to pass the course must have attendance within the scope set by the seminar teacher and succeed in the colloquium.
