Course content

Learning outcomes
The course Clinic of Patients' Rights will acquaint students with the basic elements of medical law from the perspective of the patient. The course will be realized in a practical form based on interactive approach of students, solving case studies, controlled discussions and independent work of students so that after graduation the graduates are prepared for model situations that may arise. The practical element of the clinic is ensured by working on a semestral practical project dedicated to a specific practical problem. Update for the year 2020/2021: The subject Clinic of Patient Rights will be taught in the summer semester in the academic year 2020/2021. Within the course, students will get acquainted with the basic human rights aspects of health care regulation. In the practical part of the course, students will be involved in an international project aimed at comparing different approaches to managing the COVID-19 pandemic, by producing analysis of the measures adopted in the Czech Republic. Although knowledge of English is not essential, it will be very useful in working on a semester project. To obtain a colloquium, students need to attend classes and submit their part of the semester work. The classes will take place every Wednesday from 9:45 to 11:15 on MS Teams platform.
Students who have completed this course will gain the knowledge necessary to understand the features of law.

The completion of this course is not conditioned upon completion of any other courses.

In order to pass the course, students are required to actively participate in class and to successfully complete the semestral project.
