Course content
Biodiversity, wild plant species, cultivated plants and their relationships, protection of biodiversity - institutions, laws; Technology of germplasm collections - acquisition, maintaining, description and use of samples, legislation aspects; Sources of biological material, its characteristics; Characteristics of biological material - seeds, bulbs, tubers, plants; Methods of experimental plants cultivation - pots, beds, substrates; Experiments with plats - design, setting, evaluation.

Learning outcomes
Students will learn methods and principles of managing experiments with plants.
After sttending the course, student should be able to: Select appropriate plant material, methods of cultivation and evaluation of experimental work; Propose aims of the experiments and its design; Set up the experiment, cultivation and evaluation; Analyse and interpret the results of experiments; Analyse the data and present them; Write an essay reporting the experiment; Apply knowledge of plant morphology, physiology, taxonomy and genetics.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of botany.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam, Seminar Work

Knowledge of topics (lectures, practical exercises, recommended literature); 100% participation in practical exercises; work out the protocols from practical exercises; successful passing the test and determination of seed and fruits of common crops (Czech and scientific name).
