Course content
1. Introductory lesson: course content Repetition: a summary of the course Vietnamese 1 in active dialogues and exercises Cultural window: New Year celebrations, the Vietnamese calendar, zodiac Vocabulary: wishes for the New Year 2. At the airport (Arrival to Vietnam) Dialogues: introductions at the airport, orientation at the airport and in the city Grammar: category position and direction Cultural window: trip to Vietnam (history, heritage and natural beauty) 3. Repetition: question words, exercises, dialogues, found (understanding audiovisual recording), communication with invited Vietnamese A simple song (passive vocabulary) 4. On a visit Dialog: courtesy greeting, invitation for tea and conversation Grammar: comparison of adjectives Cultural window: on a visit to Vietnam (courtesy, customs, gifts) 5. Repetition of the grammar and vocabulary of previous lessons 6. Mid-term test Presentation of cultural specificities (traditions, lifestyle, literature, music, clothing, etc.). 7. shopping Grammar: classifier objects, repetition of questions: How much? What? Why? Vocabulary: food (vegetables, fruit), colors Cultural window: marketplace in Vietnam, Vietnamese fruit presentation 8. Reading shorter texts and articles, building vocabulary, reading comprehension 9. Vietnamese holidays (New Year, etc.) Grammar: expressing wishes "chúc", imperative, practicing of imperative Vocabulary: Vietnamese dishes, verbs Cultural window: food preparation, recipes 10. Learning outcomes
After completing the course Vietnamese 2 student should be linguistically equipped and ready to basic communication during a trip to Vietnam (solving casual situations at the airport, in the market, at the visit, holiday celebration etc.). During the course emphasis will also be placed on the cultural context, i.e. language user should know how to respond "relatively" properly in particular situations.
