Learning outcomes
The course is designed for advanced students who are interested in learning news of various media forms in Chinese. The course is taught by Chinese native speakers and includes two hours of instruction per week. The purpose is to introduce professional terms and styles often used in news articles and to establish readingability of the written language in Chinese through extensive reading, explanation of passage usage, content summary, discussion and news reporting practice. Weekly topics include international politics, economics, business, social issues, health and science. Most of the articles are about China and areauthentic materials without revision. In addition, several articles of the same topic from different angles would be provided as extra reading tasks after the main article for further thinking and discussion. 1. The goal of the course is to enable students to acquire readings skills (scanning, skimming, intensive and extensive reading) and to be familiar with common terms and styles used in news article of various topics in Chinese.
Prerequisites
The course is designed for students of master study field CHINESE PHILOLOGY.
