Learning outcomes
|
The one-term lecture is designated for students of the second block of bachelor or for master degree study of Chinese filology. The aim of this lecture is to introduce students to Chinese cinema of the second half of the 20th century. The lecture is structured to illustrate political and social changes in the PRC before and after the Cultural Revolution. The choice of particular films is determined by various trends and developments in Chinese cinematography, and at the same time focuses specifically on original adaptations of important literary works. Each lecture is accompanied by presentation of selected parts of film and literary works in Chinese. Credits are awarded for an essay on chosen topic.

Prerequisites

The one-term lecture is designated for students of the second block of bachelor or for master degree study of Chinese filology. It requires basic knowledge of modern Chinese literature (the absolutorium of the lecture on history of Chinese literature), and the ability to understand basic Chinese texts.

Each lecture is accompanied by presentation of selected parts of film and literary works in Chinese. Credits are awarded for an essay on chosen topic.
