Anthropology of marriage and kinship systems 10. Religion, magic and shamanism 11. Methods and techniques of field research in anthropology 12. Anthropological School and paradigms

Learning outcomes
Lecturer: Jitka Rabitsch Adamčíková, Ph.D. The primary objective of the course is to give students a comprehensive idea about the subject, methods and history of cultural and social anthropology. The secondary objective is to describe the status of anthropology as a comprehensive science of man, society and culture. On show will be different theories of culture and major topics associated with the relationship of the individual and culture. On numerous examples will show how much is influenced by our perception paradigm etnocentrizmu evaluation and interpreting other peoples' way of life according to the values and standards of our own culture. Attention is also paid to strengthening the competencies of students to read, analyze and discuss professional texts presenting trends in contemporary anthropology.

The course does not presuppose any special knowledge or skills.

Assessment methods and criteria
Seminar Work

Form of teaching and requirements for students The basis of the course is three block lectures. The first two meetings held on the dates 1.11 and 8.11 are devoted to theoretical lecture, the third the final meeting on the 15.11. will be discussed in specialized texts that students acquire a single reading. The condition for obtaining accreditation is active participation in the final seminar (each student will present one selected text for discussion) and separately processed essay on an assigned topic. Students who actively participate Final seminars, their absence can replace one-page abstract to the selected text to be submitted along with seminar work.
