Key learning outcomes The doctoral study programme Social and Spiritual Determinants of Health (hereinafter referred to as "doctoral studies" or "SODEZ") is closely related to the activities and scientific projects of the Institute of Social Health at Palacký University in Olomouc (hereinafter referred to as "OUSHI") at the Cyril and Methodius Faculty of Theology of Palacký University in Olomouc (hereinafter referred to as "CMTF UP"). Within the framework of OUSHI, it prepares students for independent creative activities in the field of exploring not only the social but also the spiritual determinants of health. Due to its interdisciplinary focus, which does not neglect the spiritual component of health and to take into account the holistic view (bio-psycho-socio-spiritual model of health), it allows us to look for explanations of such phenomena and contexts that cannot be explained within narrowly understood specializations. This corresponds to the staffing of doctoral studies, which is provided by a team of OUSHI experts demonstrating scientific and creative activity in the field of social determinants of health, and a team of specialists on spiritual topics from other workplaces, mainly from CMTF UP. The aim is for students to be involved in currently implemented research projects at CMTF UP, especially OUSHI, during their doctoral studies. This has been the case so far ? PhD students have been involved in the following scientific projects: 4x GA CR, 5x TA CR, 1x Horizont, 2x Norway Grants, 1x AZV, 2x OPVV and 2x OP JAK. Naturally, they also become authors of scientific texts at OUSHI. However, the topics of doctoral theses can also be selected from other areas of social and spiritual determinants of health. OUSHI has a wide network of experts both in the Czech Republic and abroad, with whom students can consult their work. It is also in the power of OUSHI to secure other potential experts (trainers) on specialized topics that have become apparent over time or have a high level of social relevance (COVID19 pandemic, conspiracies in connection with the hybrid war in Ukraine or Israel, migration, etc.). The doctoral study provides the qualifications necessary to address broader challenges arising from the current and anticipated demographic, social and economic development of society, both in the Czech Republic and worldwide. It is based on national and international research priorities. Within the Czech Republic, these are mainly the National Priorities for Oriented Research, Experimental Development and Innovation (in at least four areas, especially in the area of "Healthy Population"), which are proposed for the period up to 2030. Within the EU, it is HORIZON 2020 (in at least five areas, but especially in the area of "Understanding the determinants of health, health promotion and disease prevention"). The concept of the study programme also follows the recommendations of the National Innovation Strategy of the Czech Republic, both in the interconnection of educational and research or creative activities as the main roles of higher education, as well as in the interconnection of doctoral studies with the initial phase of researchers' careers. The course of study emphasizes the quality of doctoral studies and their effectiveness for the professional development of young researchers and the benefits of foreign and domestic student mobility. The focus of the doctoral study should contribute to the improvement of health and living conditions for the citizens of the Czech Republic, Europe and the world. Within Palacký University and within the Czech Republic, there is no doctoral study of such a focus.
