Course content
|
Herpetology as a field of study, a brief history of Herpetology; basic characters of Reptiles; anatomy and morphology; origen and evolution of reptiles. Reptile ecology - food and feeding behavior; temperature and water relations; reproduction and life history; movements and orientation; communication. Classification and diversity of extant reptiles. Impact of human activities on Reptiles and conservation options.

Anatomy, ecology, phylogeny and systematics of Reptilia
Student should be able to (after attending the course): - describe anatomy and morphology of reptile body - describe system and phylogeny of the Reptiles - explain the reptilian physiology and ecology - recognize important families by main morphological and ecological characteristics - identify local representatives of the Reptiles to the species level using identification keys
