Course content
Semiology - theory of the language of the maps, problems with the terminology in the maps, problems with the style, making of the maps and developing of the methods concerning to the making of the maps. Students makes no mistakes in terminology after the course, they are able to see the new trends in terminology of the language of the maps. The lectures are as follows: Cartographical language. Different views on the developing faze of the language of the maps. Semiotical, syntactical, sygmatical and pragmatical aspects of the maps. Map and its signs. Map syntax. Map style. Function and purpose of the maps. Clasification of the function of the maps - historical and todays. Map style. Development of the map expression. Development and the state of the terminology.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to introduce the theory of the cartography to the students.
Evaluation Evaluate the particular methods and principles, explain the aspects and results concerning the given issue, integrate the knowledge, predict the solutions, evaluate the results and outcomes.
