The course includes historical aspects of Earth cognition using remote sensing data, characteristics of electromagnetic radiation used in remote sensing and satellite imaging systems, as well as methods of interpretation of satellite images that are used in the context of landscape cover mapping and changes, within CORINE projects land cover, Urban Atlas and others. Emphasis is placed on classification systems used in the process of mapping landscape coverings, on the approaches of identification and evaluation of their changes and also on their map representation.
