Micropalaeontology as a science. Allied disciplines. Essentials of microscopic methods of study of particular of groups of microorganisms. System of microorganisms. Important micropalaeobotanical groups of organisms - Acritarcha, Dinophyta (Dinophyceae), Chromophyta (Coccolithophyceae, Bacillariophycae), Rhodophyta, Chlorophyta palynomorfa etc. Important micropalaeozoological groups - Foraminifera, Radiolaria, Porifera, Coelentarata, Ostracoda, Bryozoa, Calpionellida, Conodonta, fish otolites etc. Rock-forming microfossils. Paleoecological interpretations of environments based on microfossils. Significance for biostratigraphy. Utilization of trend analyses for micropalaeontological evaluation of sediments and determination of palaeoecological conditions.
