Introduction to drug discovery. Interaction of drugs with molecular targets. Fate of drugs in the body - absorbtion, distribution, excretion. Fate of drugs in the body - metabolism. Prodrugs. Identification and optimization of active compounds. Natural compounds as drugs and inspiration. Biotechnology in drug development and production (antibodies, aptamers, siRNA, stem cells ...). Farmacogenomics. Clinical trials. Drug approval. Case studies.
