Course content
The course is focused on practical mastery of basic molecular genetic techniques used in plant biosystematics. After completing this course, the student should be able to independently perform DNA isolation, verify its quality and quantity, perform PCR reactions and be able to process the results of Sanger sequencing. - Methods of molecular markers used for the study of plant biosystematics. Their overview, use, advantages and disadvantages. - Processing and working with sequencing data, working with databases, working with common statistical SW and applications.

Learning activities and teaching methods

Learning outcomes
The course focuses on practical mastery of basic molecular biology techniques that are currently used in population genetic and phylogenetic studies of plants: DNA isolation, PCR techniques, separation and detection of PCR fragments, preparation of samples for the sequencing laboratory, evaluation of electrophoretograms, work with databases and statistical programs.
After completing the course, the student should be able to: - perform DNA isolation from plant material - routinely perform PCR reactions - optimize PCR reaction conditions - edit sequencing data, export the resulting data and construct a phylogenetic tree
Prerequisites
