Předmět se tematicky zaměří na obecné otázky práva vnějších vztahů Evropské unie. Bude pojednáno zejména o systematice práva vnějších vztahů, rozsahu přenosu pravomocí ve vnějších vztazích, dělení právních aktů a jejich specifika ve vnějších vztazích, uzavírání vnějších smluv a jejich účincích v unijním i národním právu, významu judikatury Soudního dvora v této oblasti pro ochranu práv jednotlivců, stejně jako ochranu legitimních zájmů členských států. Zvláštní pozornost bude věnována posudkové činnosti Soudního dvora včetně rozboru jeho nevýznamnějších rozhodnutí. Kromě obecné/teoretické části bude výuka zaměřena i na praktickou realizaci vnějších vztahů ve vztahu ke konkrétním zemím a regionům. Zde bude pojednáno jak smlouvách obchodního charakteru, tak i o rozvojových smlouvách či o smlouvách o přidružení. Zvláštní pozornost bude věnována reflexi unijního lidskoprávního standardu ve vnějších vztazích.
Studenti absolvující tento předmět získají znalosti a dovednosti potřebné k ovládnutí problematiky působení EU ve světě a současně aplikace právních aktů EU v národním právním řádu. Uplatnění absolventů může být jak u ústředních orgánů státní správy, soudů, advokacii, tak i na poli mezinárodním.

Pro ukončení předmětu je nezbytná účast na seminářích v rozsahu stanoveném vedoucím semináře, zpracování seminární práce a její prezentace.
