Learning outcomes
|
The teaching of Latin forms the basis for students of legal history to understand and interpret ancient texts. The duration of the course is 2 semesters. In the first semester the teaching is designed to focus on general linguistic competence, in the following semester it is specialized on legal texts. For students focusing on Roman law, the Latin Digest is the primary source for the final colloquium.
The student will acquire the basics of understanding and interpreting ancient Latin texts

Completion of this course is not contingent upon the successful completion of another course.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance, Written exam
The credit includes a written test on Latin grammar and stylistics covered in the relevant semester. The student meets with the lecturer in class (the student is required to attend half of the seminars) and is also required to have one individual consultation in order to evaluate the subject of his/her research, which will then be a condition for the receiving credit.
